Whitby is a well-loved fishing port and visitor destination on the Yorkshire north-east coast and is a thirty minute drive for me across the moors from my home in Ryedale. As a result of it's Bram Stoker and 'Dracula' associations, it has become an important destination as a twice-yearly Goth weekend event dominated by related fashion and music. Steampunk also now has its own celebratory weekends in early spring and summer and I have attended several times in recent years. When I came to thinking about more Yorkshire-related themes for my designs, both Goth and Steampunk were an obvious choice and I've had great fun creating 'Bloodlust' and 'Boilerplate'.
